Mr. Wooka Puppet Shows (2004-2005)

CBC and PBS

One of my favorite creations was a small part of the nanalan preschool series. Mona would go to the neighbor, Mr. Wooka's yard every day to see a puppet show within a puppet show. The Mr. Wooka puppets were smaller and craftier, made of anything from carved balsa wood to knitted yarn. I hired fine artists to come and make the various characters and provided the performers with only the most basic outline to improvise the puppet show and capture the unique energy of live performance. I really have to thank the puppeteers, Todd Doldersum, Marty Stelnick, Ali Eisner and Jason Hopley, we did some amazing performances together. Each puppet show was a new creation and there are 30 different Mr. Wooka shows, each 3 minutes long.
