Higglety Pigglety Pop (2009)
An amazing opportunity came up to work with the talented animators Clyde Henry Productions on a short film produced by Spike Jonze. The film is an adaptation of Maurice Sendak's story, Higglety Pigglety Pop, and will appear as a DVD extra with Where the Wild Things Are. I designed the puppet mechanics for this giant lion puppet and led a team of six puppeteers to animate the beast. The puppet design was coined "hand-a-matronics" as I designed the inside of the puppet in such a way that the puppeteers could move its complex facial expressions without electronics. The lion is performed to the voice work of Forest Whitaker.
