My Nana's Video
NANALAN is how a three year old says "Nana Land", which is the name I gave to my nana's backyard when I was a kid. It was a magical land filled with Whirligigs, butterflies and flowers, and we set out to recreate a similarly loving environment in this award winning preschool series. We wrote, directed, and authored 12 children's books that were read during the episodes. I also puppeteered the main character Mona, a curious little girl who is dropped off at her nurturing Nana's house each day. This show follows a very different format from most television because each episode is based around a theme, exploring it from different angles with discovery, play, books, puppet shows and songs. It celebrates the free-flowing, exploratory experience of preschoolers. We made 71 3-minute shorts and 43 half-hour episodes which are still playing today.
