This workshop begins with a pile of stuff poured in the center of the workshop table: sponges, yarn, Chopsticks, Marbles, pins, thread, glue, feathers, donated doodads and colourful surprises. The goal of this workshop is to engage in a craft alchemy that will bring that pile of foam and stuff to life. [INSERT THUNDER CLAP]
The participants create shapes out of the foam with scissors, pins and glue, paint, fabric, needles and thread. These foamy puppet creations are so easy and quick to make that participants can make several creatures during the workshop.
For the last hour a video camera and monitor is set up and participants learn how to manipulate the foam creations. Voice, sound and dialogue can be added and the video can be watched to improve and try again. At the end of this workshop participants go home with a video of their work.
